First 10 Days of 2014
One of my resolutions for 2014 is to take more pictures so below are a few that I captured in the first ten days of the year. All the photos are from downtown Annapolis - the first two were taken on the first sunrise of 2014 - the other four on a cold foggy Saturday.
For me, sunrises will never lose their magic or inspirational power. Fog has its own magic as it tends to turn the world into black & white with subtle brushes of color.

Ocean City in November
The warm and pretty colors of Ocean City are now closed for the season. But there is still beauty to be found in the black and white world of a beach and boardwalk town that is now "chillin' out."

Hearing Before Seeing / Remembering
Sometimes you hear the shot before
seeing the shot. I took some sunrise photos from Compromise Bridge in Annapolis
this morning. At one point, I was concentrating on the Eastport side when I
heard the sound of a boat heading out to the Chesapeake Bay. Before I ever got
the boat in my viewfinder, I knew the potential shot about to be offered.
Whether it is vessels exploring the depths of our oceans or ones that launch
into space, they are reminders. They let us remember one of humankind’s core elements
– the desire to explore.

Backyard Bubbles
Earlier in the day we had all donned the required respectful garb that one is expected to wear when saying good-bye to a loved one who has passed on. Afterwards, while some stayed in the house, locked in quiet and serious conversations, all that was needed was a short trip to the backyard to be reminded that summer afternoons were meant for fun and that life does indeed go on.

Backyard Blossomings
Sometimes when things seem to be spinning out of control, one just needs to stop, breath and take a few moments to see the wonder that is right in your own backyard. The following photos were taken on a Sunday morning just after a rain shower had passed through the area and then on the following evening just before sunset.

Carpe Cherry Blossoms
No long prose attached to this post. Just decided yesterday (4/9/2013) to get up really early (5 a.m.) and get down to the tidal basin area of Washington, D.C. to see the cherry blossoms make their grand (and brief) spring appearance. Enjoy the pics.
